Carlos Ayala M.D. FACS, Adjunct Assistant Professor of Surgery, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine.  Previous Chief, Facial Plastic Surgery, Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany.  Previous Chief of Otolaryngology & Facial Plastic Surgery, Nellis AFB, Las Vegas Nevada.  Deployed as the only ENT/Facial Plastic Surgeon in Afghanistan, supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in the summer of 2011. Dr. Carlos Ayala a native Spanish speaker served over 20 yrs active duty in the U.S. military retiring from the United States Air Force as a Lieutenant Colonel.  He attended medical school at the Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, where he received numerous academic honors, including induction into Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA), selected as an Academic Medicine Fellow by the National Medical Fellowships Program, and a Letter of Distinction in Pharmacology from Louis J. Ignarro recipient of the 1998 Nobel Prize in Medicine.  During medical school Dr Ayala published the USMLE review book series Boards & Wards which are still used by physicians all over the world.  Dr. Ayala then served as a Clinical Fellow in Surgery, Harvard Medical School during his General Surgery Internship at the Beth Israel Deaconess, and Clinical Fellow in Otology and Laryngology, Harvard Medical School, during his residency in the Harvard Otolaryngology Residency Program.   Dr Ayala completed his training in Facial Plastic Surgery in a competitive and prestigious Facial Plastic Surgery Fellowship at the Lasky Clinic in Beverly Hills, California.  Dr Ayala specializes in Revision Rhinoplasty, Rhinology, Balloon Sinuplasty, Blepharoplasty, Otoplasty, Facial Plastic Surgery, Voice, Allergy, and Sleep Medicine.   Dr Ayala is Double Board Certified in Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic Surgery, Board Eligible in Sleep Medicine, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.  Dr Ayala earned his “Flight Wings” as a Flight Surgeon and worked with NASA in support of various Space Shuttle Missions.  Dr Ayala’s dedication to the community have led him to participate in various medical missions to Cuba, Ecuador, Russia, and Guatemala.    Dr. Ayala’s ongoing dedication to medicine and surgery have earned him the US Air Force, Air Mobility Command, “Surgeon of the Year” 2006 award, and his selection as one of “America’s Top Physicians” by Consumer Research Council of America, 2008 & 2010, 2012, Patients Choice Award and Top 10 Doctors 2011 ,2012,2013,2014  Most Compassionate Physician Award 2011, 2012, 2013  Plastic Surgery Practice Magazine- Best of 2011 Plastic & Cosmetic Surgeons, and his War time deployment story “Faces of Change” was selected by the American Academy of Facial Plastic Surgeons as one of the Top Stories of 2011.
